110mm T36E1 Coiled case identification

Falcon

Well-Known Member
A collector I know in the USA has this case. It is made from coiled steel.

The case length is 452mm, and rim diameter is 125mm.

Is there any information known on the gun it was designed for?

The headstamp is:

110 MM T36E1

MAC 1952

Thanks for any replies.

Never heard of a 110mm. There was a 115mm coiled case for the USMC gun, and the 105mm howitzer, but they were coiled steel lacquered. Maybe it's listed in Hawkinsons book.

Thanks for the replies. It's good to see some photos of the gun.

Hazord: The case is in Hawkinson's list, but that didn't give much indication of the gun it was for.

Correction to my post above.

From a similar question on the IAA Forum, forum member "Fede" posted the following information "...this case type was used in the 110 mm T143 howitzer, an experimental model to improve the 105 mm M2A1 howitzer from WWII. The identification plate in the pictures ... should be wrong, as T74 was the designation of the carriage, not the gun. Regards, Fede."
