122 x 705 R 170 Japanese case

I recently found this Japanese case at the local flee market in Cape Town.

Stamped LUE S 8 / 18 (Showa period August 1943).

My measurements:

122 x 705 R 170.

The closest I can find in Jan Janssens Big Gun shell Cases is:

120 x 710 R 170

Can I assume that these are the same? Are there any pictures of the gun?

I do not know but Hawkinson lists a 120x708R case with 158rim.12cm/45 Navy type 10th year.
If the rim is 170mm?? the smallest is a 120x558R Tank round. I do not know what your case is if it is 170mm rim diameter. I tried to help.

I have seven Japanese case lengths listed for 120mm caliber.
From 120x83R to 120x851R
Included is the case above but with no indication as to whether IJN or IJA
Olaf might know....

Up until the end of WW2 there are seven Japanese case lengths/diameters on my list.
From 120x83R to 120x851R. There may be more.
The case above is on the list, but no more information; IJN or IJA not listed.
