I had the information

so I thought I would just put it out for every one. No room for these, I limit myself to one coiled 105mm Howitzer casing. I have the same in a Canadian manual for 1960, but it isn't as good and the drawings are poor.

I've recently picked up a US 155mm projectile and was hoping someone could tell me more about it. ie the markings, usage, year of manufacture etc..

Here it is....

What you have is the standard M107 HE projo for the 155mm Howitzer. They have been in use since WWII. Your example is painted and lettered to have been an explosive loaded service round.

Look closely about an inch or 2 above the rotating band, around the body, and you should find some information stamped into the metal. It would be something like 155MM M107 with a date and manufacturer's code. That will tell you when it was made. The W/SUPP CHG data means your projo was loaded with the deep intrusion fuze well to accomodate the longer proximity fuzes. When normal length fuzes are used, an aluminum cased cylinder of TNT is used to fill the blank space below the fuze in this deep fuzewell. The projo is issued with the Supplementary charge in the fuze well.

It is a fine example, as it is hard to find them with original lettering. They weigh about 100 lbs. loaded.
