17 CM Minenwerfer...

Hi all,

I'm sure this has been covered before on this site (but I've yet to find it), but can anyone here enlighten me as to whether German 17cm Minenwerfer projectiles ever had Lead driving bands?
As I understand it the norm was Zinc Alloy or Brass?

Only ever owned one of these and it had a (badly corroded) Zinc band.

Hello,

As far as I know driving band is made of brass or copper on model 13.
Model 16 is fitted with a zinc alloy band (M16 body was munufactured with different shape with name of girls).

Here's a 17 cm minenwerfer projectile model 13 with brass driving band and a model 16 with a zinc alloy band.
