Todat i bouht a nice WW1 dated 17 cm case. it's a navy case, marked I and 1906, so January 1906. there are some ink markings remained, since this case wasn't shined up weekly by the wife. This marking is 17,3. Seen the orientation of the text, it's the propellant weight. And comparing the style of letter (fonts) it's a ww2 marking. Looking into the manuals, I can't find a propellant weight of 17,3 kg, i did find the 23,5 kg charge, and the 13,4 kg charge, the first for the normal shell, the second for the star shell.

So the question is, where was the 17,3 kg propellant used for?
