Hi all,
I have these two 20x139mm that I'm trying to find info on,the first is a German? blank, headstamped 20x139 DM1323A1 LOS NWM(Dutch?)99A4278,noticed that Chris 42 RQ had one simiular in his gallery but with only the crimp at the neck of the case,I did wonder if the "crimp tube" extended on firing, but Chris put me right on that one! the tube is marked 20K MAN ????8.
The other one is headstamped 349 50 DA,primer is marked x DC 1.,projectile is marked with a on end square and 24.
Both are steel case's.
Any info on either would be great as I have not been collecting 'bigger' rounds for very long.
Cheers
Tony

20 x 139

Not my area of expertise at all, but I can confirm that NWM is Dutch, and they made large quantities of 20 x 139 on contract for the Dutch and German military.

The other round looks like it is Swiss to me, but I am out of my comfort zone.

Thanks TonyE,
Had a vauge idea about the Dutch origin from seeing a post on the 27mm Mauser round, but for the life of me I cannot find it again!

Man

Yes it does, it means "Manouverpatrone". I should have added that to my post.

NWM also loaded a "break-up" round with a plastic jacketed bullet filled with lead dust. This gave the recoil energy to work the action but broke up on leaving the muzzle.

The stamp of the DA case and the primer look Swiss to me, but I do not know the meaning of DA.

NWM= Nederlandse Wapen en Munitiefabrieken, s`Hertogenbosch, Netherlands.

Man= Manverpatrone (German designation for `blank`)

Cartridge made by NWM for the German army.
