25mm French Hotchkiss Round?

I have searched through the forum for info on this round and im pretty sure from what i have found that it is a 25mm French Hotchkiss Round but i just want to make sure?

Any other info on this round would be great.

Headstamp: CN 39 F 1
Primer: DRS 134 -39

F= metal supplier "Trfileries et laminoires de la Mditeranne, St Louis,FRANCE"

39= the year 1939

1= first quarter of the year

Yes, that's the 25 mm Hotchkiss antitank, there was also a similar cartridge for a AA gun but the case was not rimmed.

Thanks, learned something here about the number "1". Indeed, all my French 25 mm have 1,2,3 or 4.....never knew that.

Well here's my 25mm Hotchkiss round....not quite as nice as the thread starter, but still a cracking round.



Can anyone tell me what MR and C stand for?

According to Hogg in 'Allied Artillery of World War Two':

...French 25mm Hotchkiss, which had been adopted as a stop-gap until sufficient 2-pounders were produced, and was officially issued to Territorial Army formations. The slow production of 2-pounders led to a few Regular units being equipped with them as well. Most were left behind in France in 1940, and those that remained in England lasted only as long as the stocks of ammunition. Almost all had vanished by mid-1941.

anyway i post mine too here an armour piercing with black tip, and an armour piercing with tracer (green tip). The Stencyl in black is claimed to be for the Maginot line guns, but not sure on it

Do you have any suggestions where I can purchase the manual for the 25mm Hotchkiss AT cannon? I just purchased the cannon and need to disassemble and renovate. I can't really do this work without a manual.
