3 Inch RF casing. What gun?

Picked up what I thought was a typical 3/50 caliber casing.

Cleaned it up to reveal it is a 3 Inch RF casing. It was made at he WNY in August of 1906.

I assume RF is "rapid fire", so exactly what gun does this casing belong to?

Thanks in advance.

I'll stand corrected and remove my post.

I'm a USN KW era Gunners Mate and so RF to me means rapid fire as in the 3"/50 MK 33. Everything before that was slow fire, sometimes painfully so.

To better answer your question, I assume RF is rapid fire because a Google search of the aforementioned term yields "rapid fire guns".

There are several variations. The exact one of which is what I seek.

Seeing an abundance of information pointing my casing to the M1902M1 RF, which seems to have been a mainstay gun for seacoast and harbor defense batteries.

However, it seems that this gun was also utilized on many of the pre-dreadnought, armored cruisers as well.

3 inch rapid fire on the left.

3 inch, 50 caliber on the right.

Obvious differences between the two are found in the total length and the rim.
