30 x210 mm Development for 1945 (Zbrojovka Brno, Czech )

..It was a long way to introduce it into the armament of the army .... I will outline the post-war development of the 30mm machine gun and ammunition.
Stage ZK-453 from 1945 to 1947.
Between the years 5/1945 and 5/1946, no new ammunition was ordered for this machine gun. I will not mention the number of weapons that Zbrojovka had in stock from the war, nor the number of gun carriages. The published information does not agree with this, the authors have to deal with it themselves..
Consumed from the war production of ammunition 30mm Mk-303 Br.
An interesting fact about the post-war house is the transfer of drawings and samples of the 30 mm MK 303 Br. To the Russian army, with the fact that after several years the USSR military commission wanted more of the same drawings and lost them somewhere (probably)... there must therefore be at least one set of production drawings east of Prague.
The army tested the machine gun and ammunition and Army was blocked for export. There were many people interested in purchasing, showing, etc. in 1945-1949. (Venezuela, Yugoslavia, France, Sweden, Belgium, etc.) The only exception to the Army ban on transfer and promotion to foreign countries was for Yugoslavia in 1946 (including shooting ZK-453). Thus, for the sake of completeness in until 05/1945, nothing new in 30mm caliber was produced in Zbrojovka Brno.
The first "paper" order for ammunition after the war in 05/1946 VTÚ, namely 72 experimental pieces of projectiles (among other things, the design of the suction cavity in the bottom of the projectile was designed...etc.

In 1947, the army re-formulated its requirements and this was reflected in the order from Zbrojovka Brno for the production of a prototype of the 30mm PL machine gun ZK 453, a carriage (HUL-30) and a sight. In connection with the design of the weapon, also a new order for the development of 30mm ammunition (that is, the first ammunition of the post-war design in 1947..) Ammunition was ordered in the following versions: Tříštivý náhradní svítící náboj- Type 23, Tříštivý svítící náboj - Type 22 .. but also some others, including semi-armored, functional or...

In 1948, Army commissioned the development of 2 prototypes of a 30mm PL twin machine gun with a carriage and 1 prototype of a 30mm PL machine gun with a carriage without a sight. Again, there is a new ammunition design ... The drawings were newly marked and are not the same as in 1947.
Army, Zbrojovka Brno allocated several million crowns for weapons and ammunition.

In 1948, Zbrojovka produced a promotional brochure in Czech and English versions with the markings (Brochure) ZTS/725, ZTS/725a (30mm Automatic machine gun ZK-453).

-30mm guns and ammunition in 1948 begins to gain momentum ...

Now, we'll skip the years 1951 to 1954 (I'll come back to this section in the future).

And we get to 1955, when the prototype series of 30mm JFSv vz.53 cartridges was produced
An interesting thing is the acceptance into the armament of the army as vz.53.
The army waited until 1956 to produce a verification series of vz.53 cannons.
In 1956, a large inspection test of cannons and ammunition was held by the army.

A small overview of mass-produced ammunition:
Year 1956:
-30mm JFSv vz.53; series 1/56 to 10/56
Year 1957:
-30mm JFSv vz.53 series 1/57 to 17/57
Year 1958
-30mm JFSv vz.53 series 1/58 to 5/58
Year 1960
-30mm JFSv vz.53; series 1/59 to 11/59 (from 5/59 >change trace )
Year 1961
-30mm JFSv vz.53; series 1/61 to 60/61
Year 1962
-30mm JFSv vz.53; series 1/62 to 6/62
Year 1963
-30mm JFSv vz.53; series 1/63 to 10/63
-----------------------------------------
Year 1956:
-30mm JNhSv vz.53; series 1/56 to 34/56
Year 1957:
-30mm JNhSv vz.53; series 1/57 to 3/57
Year 1958
-30mm JNhSv vz.53; series 1/58 to 15/58
Year 1960
-30mm JNhSv vz.53; series 1/59 to 13/59
Year 1961
-30mm JNhSv vz.53; series 1/61 to 16/61
Year 1962
-30mm JNhSv vz.53; series 1/62
Year 1963
-30mm JNhSv vz.53; series 1/63 to 3/63

In 1968, the zero series of fuze cz-301A.

....
in 1959, an electric bolt (EZ-30) was designed for 30mm ammunition (for example PL complete ,,Aligator,, with 2 pcs of 30mm VK-30 cannons, i.e. not for PLDVk vz.53, vz.53/59)

During 1949/1950, the army stopped preparatory work for the serial production of 30mm ammunition. All orders for live ammunition were cancelled. Some actually produced parts for live cartridges were scrapped.
Delivered after this date were mostly only spare or functional cartridges. All in all, the costs at that time were around >4,7 million crowns expressed in the costs of the production company, and development costs were also added to that... It was not a good time for the fate of the 30mm canon. (The army were also thinking about license production of 23x152B ammunition for the Shilka system and PL complete Shilka to also be produced under license. But that didn't happen...)
There must have been something very influential in the background of such a decision (Russia's effort to control arms production by means of licenses). The 30mm 2A42 cannon was not even in the world yet in a prototype .... The question is what the Russians could actually offer instead of stopped development .... if only a promise of something in the future.

The continuation of development and production after 1950, as I wrote last time, occurred in the phase of preparation for mass production. Some development work continued. I will deal with it next time.
