We have found a 35 mm and I can't indentify it.
Total length 180 mm.
Markings on the body are: 592-5272
It has a tracer that is burnt out and a very strange dummy fuze.
I think it is made for short range shooting.

Hope any off you guys can help.

Regards,

Chris

Hello Chris.

Perharps a clue : take a look to the TM D-30-5-6 : similar shell from German Federal republic, Practice DM 18A1 w/tracer.

Hi Chris, it's the one with the red arrow. At supersonic speed the three recesses in the nosepiece have no influence over the ballistic behaviour as the airstream is split by the nose and the airstream has a wider angle than the airstream, so it does not touch the three recesses. At subsonic speed the airstream flows over the projectile body much closer -flowing through the three recesses- disturbing the airstream over the nose. This makes the nose swing outward after which the projectile starts tumbling, falling from the air at a short distance after becomming ballistically instable.
Mine is marked: 592-5272 14-79 Oe. It has a red band appr. 1cm wide, including the drivingband and above.

Groeten, DJH

Thanks Pascal it looks a lot like it but the inside of the DM18A1 is different, I think Pzgr 40 has the right one.
