Can any one tell me the dates, as specific as possible, for the production of the following 37mm Cannon ammunition?

Thanks --Kenny

USA
M74 AP Shot
M80 AP Shot
M51 APC
M51A1 APCBC
M51B1 APCBC (Diff Ballistic cap)
M51B2 APCBC (Diff Ballistic cap)
M63 APHE
M2 Canister

British
Mk II HE

French
Mle 1935 AP
Mle 1934 AP-T
Mle 1937 HE

Russian
UBR-167 AP
UBR-167P HVAP
UOR-167 HE
UOR-167N HE

Can I assume (hate that) the French round dates are the production dates? Don't know.

Are there any other 37mm ammo out there from various countries?

Thanks in advance --Kenny

My specialty is 37mm before 1920, but have seen and read about later 37mm from Russia, Japan Sweden and others. There are many rounds for AA guns used by many countries around the world and also for At use. Look under different countries and i am sure you will find many. Getting ahold of the physical rounds may not be easy, but that's collecting!

I have seen M80s dated 1942 - 1945.- 44 & 45 have a different deeper crimp groove. (Looking for one dated 1943.) I have M63 dated 1943-44.

Hi Kenny,
I can only help you out a little bit here on the US 37mm rounds and i only have information on the M16 cased rounds. From some original documentation that i have the following production or a least drawing dates are as follows but no dates for the end of production.

M51 TP 1939
M51 A1 1940
M51 B1 1939
M51 B2 1940
M51 B3 1941
M63 HE 1940
M2 1944

A very interesting subject to research and collect, can i recommend the fantastic book " A Gun For All Nations 37mm Gun and Ammunition Vol 1 1870-1913" by Robert A. Mellichamp you should still be able to get hold of a copy, the first of 4 Vol to be published on the subject.
Best regards Weasel.

Thanks Weasel!! I appreciate the input. I have searched the Internet for Mellichamp's book but cannot find a copy. Strange for a book that's only a year old. Unless it was an extremely small print run. Do you know where I might find a copy? Thanks!
