390 Mk 3 Pyrotechnic Time fuze

Another new addition... 390 Mk3 fuze, original finish on the nose cone and complete with internal parts (spring & striker).

Stamped:

CY8 90 150

BN 7 90 022

The fuze is missing the brass screw thread disc/baseplate, if anyone has a spare i am looking for one of these to complete the fuze.

Do you know what the stamped markings CY8 90 150 mean? I'm guessing the 90 is the year of manufacture?

Joe, yes the 90 is year of manufacture (1990) but as for the other markings i am not sure (probably manufacturer & lot number), perhaps one of the other members will know for sure.

BN is for Blackburn where the fuze was manufactured
CY is Chorley where the fuze pyrotechnic components were filled

The `150' of CY 8 90 150 is the filled lot number and the `022' of BN 7 90 022 is the empty lot number, as Allan has said. The 7 90 and 8 90 refer to the month and year of manufacture of the fuze body and month and year of filling of the fuze. CY 8 90 150 is also known as the batch key identity (BKI) and BKI is how it was referred to on documentation in ammo depots and ammo management. Again, for ammo management, a number of BKIs make up a group and that group is monitored during its service life, for performance and reliability in different climatic and storage conditions. This is my understanding of how it all worked in the 1970s to 1990s.

Thanks for the additional information, much appreciated.
