Youngbrain, you are ambitious, jumping in size from your successful 1.1inch duplication to this 3 inch project! Here are some previous posts that discuss this projo:

The projectile was used in the 76mm gun on the Super Sherman, and in the M-10 Tank Destroyer 3 inch gun.

The U.S. developed a procedure for closing Jap caves in WWII on the Pacific Islands that used these projectiles. They would fire 2 to 4 of these APCBC-T HE projos into the front rock surface above the mouth of the cave, followed by High Explosive rounds, to colapse the cave mouth and close it. They used the M62A1 rounds, or the 90mm M82A1 rounds, if they had a 90mm gun.

3 inch M62 projectile...

Hello Andrew,

I've included a 1944 color plate of the olive drab M62APC with the 3 inch MARK II M2 brass casing and M66A1 base detonating fuze. The projectile when used without a BD fuze was painted black with white lettering. The M66A1 BD fuze thread is LEFT handed. The yellow lettering on the M62APC color plate reads: 3G - PROJA.P.C.M62 - WITH - TRACER.

Best regards,

Randall

Lefty or righty !

Youngbrain, as a general rule on English and American ammunition any shell with a right hand fuze thread (the standard) will if fitted with base fuze or tracer that are screwed in have left hand threads so that on firing all items will tighten and become more secure.
So-above the band will be "Right Hand" thread
Below the band will be "Left Hand" thread.
