Attached are a few photos of a recent aquisition.
The HS 840 was developed as a possible replacement for the Swiss 34mm Model 1938. Hispano Suiza developed the weapon as a medium calibre anti aircraft gun. Muzzle velocity was about 1000 m/second with ammunition being belt fed or by clip. The project was stopped in about 1955.
The round has a brown laquered steel case. The projectile is a white painted practice projectile with a brass nose plug.
For further information Robert Gerber (who is on BOCN :tinysmile_twink_t:) published an excellent article in the ECRA journal 401-24 in October 1998).
All INERT.
Thanks.
Dave.
