75mm Recoiless Rifle

Picked up this projectile to go with the shell case I have and was wondering what HEP stands for I think the HE is for High Explosive. Anyhow both the shell case and projectile are dated 1953.

High explosive plastic. The UK would call it HESH, high explosive squash head. Same-same.
 
Thanks for the reply I'm thinking this projectile must have had some sort of internal fuse that was activated when fired.
 
Base fuzed, but commonly used as practice/drill bodies, especially for the 106mm.
