Very nice collection Tony,On my drill round the wooden plug was put in before the holes were drilled right through it,is this common?

There seems to be no hard and fast rule. Most British and Commonwealth drill rounds have a wooden spacer and the UK practice seems to have been to drill the case first and use a spacer dyed red. Other manufacturers drilled the case after loading.
