Nice items! I'm catching up on my backlog of e-mails and forum posts etc. after having just returned from vacation; I'm seeing a lot of posts of WW1 and earlier stuff from you; nice! I love that old stuff. Did you buy a lot of such items?
As for these two: the second one has been answered already; definitely the core of a lead coated projectile. The other one looks a lot like a projectile I have incoming from Japan in 75mm calibre. Don't get your hopes risen sky-high just yet though.
I had bought the 75mm projectile in question because the lower, "double-grooved" driving band looks a lot like that on Japanese 105mm and 120mm (and I think also 90mm) early Army projectiles. The upper driving bands are also sometimes seen on Japanese ones. However... after having bought it, it dawned on me that it looked very similar to a projectile (with original white paint on it) I had seen before. I checked it and I think they're the same. The one in question was -back then- identified as being Belgian, IIRC.
I know little about this early stuff, but you might want to ask David Sciacca about it; he may very well know what it is you have exactly.
Either way: the 'Belgian possibility' may be a lead to identification.

That will be very exciting if the big one is Japanese, but the font of the base markings makes me think it is of Euro origins.
And, "buy" isn't the right word for this acquisition. Part of the J.R. deal.

Ah, o.k., JR it was... Now I see. Of course. Now I also know which lot they came from. Fun stuff, all these oldies! Enjoy them!
BTW: I have an HP printer, which is suffering from poor cartridges too! I'll check if mine is compatible with what you have.

The second one is a German Krupp shell. Armstrong made a similar shell but I can't explain the minor differences.
