Any Ideas What This Cutaway Item Could Be??

Aside from collecting ordnance i have also started to collect all sorts of sectioned/cutaway items from small things to engines.

I bought this little thing off eBay (not ordnance) and it arrived today. The seller didn't know what it was, i don't know what it is, any ideas??

It has been made into a cutaway (looks like a nice factory cut job by the manufacturer) and attached to some sort of desktop stand, the cutaway thing on the stand isn't very big as it is about 3 inches by 3 inches (fits in the palm of my hand)

Inside the lower part is full of electronic components and the upper part is full of mechanical parts, brass cogs/gear wheels etc.

If you notice around the outside of the lower part is some sort of black rubber ring/seal with some sort of metal ring above that. Obviously this thing would attach into something giving an airtight or oil tight? seal.

The bloke did say in the eBay listing possibly aviation so perhaps an aircraft engine part?? Im stumped!

So, what do you think, seen anything like it before?? any guesses??

As it has several spring loaded set back weights and a detonator rotor I assume it is from a missile.

Now that is interesting, it is a super nice cutaway whatever it is but if it turns out to be missile related then thats a bonus!

Hopefully someone can offer more info.

I suppose the upper smaller cylindrical red colored part represent a booster.
Should it not can be the electronic-mechanical mechanism of an US FMU bomb fuze ?

The top part is more of a pink/orange colour than red, the photos don't show the correct colour. It defiantly represents something and could very well be a booster. It certainly looks like it.

I have tried searching BOCN and Google for modern bomb fuzes and for missile fuzes etc but have yet to find anything similar to compare it to.

Looking closely at the electrical components it is defiantly pretty modern whatever it is.

It's not too big to be part of a fuze for an artillery shell. Many modern artillery fuzes are now electro-mechanical, rather than purely mechanical as most were until after WW2.

I've just never seen anything similar.

If it is indeed a fuze of some sorts or at least a part of a fuze hopefully someone will recognise it and be able to offer more information.

In the meantime I will keep searching the Internet.

how i see you object just with the mechanical part without electronic it could be a base fuze, it have some safety devices (spring/ball) release by the shoot
and not sure but on the pictures it seem contain some rotating satefy near the boster.

so i will presume of an projectile/artillery base fuse.

Can anyone offer more info on this item, i am still trying to find out if this is defiantly a fuze and if so what type it is and what it was used with.
