Anyone Able To ID This Practice Grenade Body?

Very interesting. I think this is either a US WWI "throwing practice" grenade with a body of very unusual manufacture... (it has extra row 8 segments at the top, and it is a dead ringer for an original WWI 32 segment body, except for these extra segments at the top)...........................
Or It maybe could be an experimental, or transitional grenade casting from when they were experimenting & changing to the 40 segment MkII bodies....late 1918 to 1919.
It would be good to see better pics of the markings that partly can be see on it, and also where this body came from, or was found. It looks like it could be a ground found item. It looks like a US item for sure.

I have seen several of these (about 4 or 5) and strongly think it to be a US MKI WW1 throwing dummy/practice variation. Not a positive ID by any means but reasonably certain of this. I was told same by a dealer at Show of Shows in Louisville KY around 2001 or 2002. Definately has that "US look" to it. So Kilroy I think you are spot on with this one. I would love to have one myself........................Dano
