Boer war

There is one of the 4.1in shells in a NZDF collection in New Zealand, with the 'complements of CJR' stamped on. This was apparently being used as a doorstop until it was gathered up for the collection.

Those are some of the best pictures of the period ammunition I have ever seen. Many thanks for posting the links.

Sebastian, many thanks for posting those hyperlinks to the Boer War site! There is an incredible amount of info there!

Is there a source for pdf versions of the "ORDNANCE COMMITTEE REPORT" mentioned in some of the posts ?

What is new to me is that the Boer fighters had quite heavy artillery. I was always told the heaviest weapon they had was the 37mm one pounder.

Rare and very interesting picture of shells with french fuzes (type Budin) for 75mm Krupp (German) with Dutch markings (veldkanon).
Amazing mix.
