Hi

Can someone please explain the nomenclature on Brit L2's.
That is, what's with the two separate (and different) lines of lot numbers and dates?

My assumptions are:

1. Lot number 216
2. CY= Royal Ordnance Factory, Chorley
3. 10-80. = October 1980
4. 172 = Lot number
5. APX = Royal Ordnance Factories
6. 80 = 1980

cheers

Fragman,

One is the manufacturer of the body, the other line is the factory who filled it. (don't know who did what)

Thanks. Do you know if the body was stencilled at the time it was made, and then the filling details added when it was filled or was it all done at the same time when it was being loaded? Cheers

No Idea on the Brittish nades, but the Belgian ones were stencilled separately. Sometimes obvious by using different fonts.
