Disappearing Car Door

Interesting concept, but it would seem like a small accident could mean major repairs or end up with you waiting for the fire dept to get you out of your car.

I agree, nice concept but,,,I also agree that it would only take a small shunt to distort the integrity of the mechanism to the point where it would jam solid requiring an undignified exit through the window, and a flat battery, fuse blown,or some other problem would present another set of problems,
Don,

Imagine a nice rain when you have to get in fast, by the time you get in you'll have a swimming pool inside. Or better with heavy snow fall or loose snow on your roof etc.
Or the machanizm jams and the door won't close and you can't leave the car anymore as it is wide open...
A typical development by people who are too far from reality and maybe enter their car only inside their garage and leave it again in the garage of their work place.
This will go absolutely nowhere. Poor management of that car maker.
