It looks like an early mark of the 1" Gatling (Nordenfeldt?) machine gun bullet (steel/iron core with a brass jacket). Regards, Trevor
 
What you are holding is a 1" Nordenfelt machine gun projectile...Brass jacket over a hardened pointed core, the tip of which you can see protruding.

It is for the Nordenfelt

Hand cranked "automatic" multi barreled cannon, British 1880s or other countries depending on who bought them. Likely used into the 1890s. Sold in various multi barreled versions.
