Japanese films about WWII always start in the present and segue between past and present trying to connect the generations and give meaning to the past. This movie, known as "The Eternal Zero", is no exception http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2404217/. It is probably the best example of recent Japanese WWII films, with really dramatic war scenes done on grand scale. Anyone interested in WWII naval aviation and aircraft carrier battles involving kamikaze attacks will greatly enjoy watching this film.
