Hi all,

With some pride, I feel it is now time to inform you guys of my new website, http://www.japaneseammunition.com
Over the past few weeks I've made a thorough start with filling it with actual content.
Covered are (and/or "will be") the following categories:
-Japanese 'gun' ammo, calibres 12.7mm and bigger
-Captured ammo
-Mortar ammo
-Artillery fuzes
-Bomb fuzes
-...and lots of other stuff!

It is a LOT of work to put everything online, but I feel I now have enough online to start spreading the word. This is one website that will probably never be done, but rather, now content will be posted all the time as it becomes available.

For now, the main focus has been on adding items from my own collection. I'm working my way up on making a complete calibre list for both IJA (currently 12.7-75mm are covered) as well as IJN ammo (13-57mm are covered), and I am filling those pages with the content I have. The items I have added cover all of my present gun ammo, up to (inclusive) the 75x104R calibre. All bigger calibres will be covered still over the next few weeks, including several spectacular new finds which I have incoming on November 7th (the sections that currently already have content will then be expanded too).

It should be noted that I have left those pages of which I have no items yet empty (apart from the page headers). Those pages will later be filled, possibly using content from other peoples' collections and/or general texts.

For now, just click through the pages listed under the menus: "Army gun ammo" and "Navy gun ammo", and those that are filled, apart from having sections with common details for the respective type of ammo, also have a trailing section at the bottom of the page (called "Pictures and details") which contains links to highly detailed items of the specimens in my collection.

Make particularly sure to not miss those sections. :tinysmile_classes_t

Note: Though there is a login section, this is not required (and currently only used by me to fill the site). All content is publicly available.

I hope you all enjoy your visit, and I'm open for all comments. Also, I'm always looking for ammo of the covered areas (even if I already have several similar specimens). If someone has some Japanese ordnance for sale/trade please let me know (no matter how benign it may seem to you; to me it may not). My direct e-mail address is: ogreve@japaneseammunition.com

Enjoy!

What a fantastic job Olaf! I have only spent a short time looking round the site but will certainly be revisiting and probably on a regular basis. I am sure that our members will help you develop this further. In this regard how would you prefer additional information be conveyed to you?

Once again, well done.

D

Olaf that's brilliant and an inspiration I am sure to many of us who have countless rounds hidden in boxes!! Nice to see some old friends there and also some with links. Thanks for putting in the hard work, its a great site.
Dave

I can appreciate the effort expended in building this site. The photos, research and details take an enormous amount of time. As well, the anticipation of parcels arriving without issue can be draining. If Olafo had hair, it'd be gray by now.

Now, ON WITH THE OrdHut!:top:

Very nice Olaf. I was wondering what you were going to do with all your stuff. A nice suprise and great job.

Love how easy the format of the site is too. Hope I find the for sale section!!:tinysmile_twink_t:

Hi all,

Thanks a lot for the nice comments; they're very encouraging! :tinysmile_twink_t2:

As for some specific questions/remarks:
-Logins: it's not required to request logins in order to see (all) content, but you're all welcome to do so, and in the future I do intent to enable some sections (like discussion forums, etc.) that may indeed require logins.
-Grenades: at present I have limited the scope to the aforementioned categories (which are essentially the items I collect and am specialised in), however, it is very well possible that in due time I will be adding items such as grenades, bombs, etc.
-"old friends": yes, Dave, Lou and Slick: those items that are so familiar to you guys are very well cared for; no need to worry about those babies. :tinysmile_hmm_t:
-Slick: Aye, whatever hairs aren't gone already are indeed turning grey when stuff is in transit. Those boxes are much appreciated. :tinysmile_twink_t:
-For sale section: possibly it'll be added; maybe as a trade-only section, possibly sale too, though... there may be something 'Ord Hutty' coming up very soon, and that may yet feature some Japanese stuff too....

Cheers!

Nice one Olafo !! It's great to see you fulfilling your threats (-:
A major work indeed ... thanks very much for all your work for now and the future.
Will reply to your email when i can tear myself away from here LOL

HI Olafo,

Top stuff! I'll know where to "google" now for Japanese Ordnance info!

Cheers
Drew

Very good Job Olafo! This has been a lot of work to do this. Keep up the good work!!
If you will add Japanese grenades in the future, I will happy to send some pics to you.

Regards, Steve

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the further nice comments!

@Charley: yes, I'm making good on some of my 'threats' :xd:
I'm busier than ever, but I find that every now and then when I have a few moments of time, I can add an item or two here and there, and fill the site as such...

Yesterday I received two crucial items for improving my photography: special tripod swivel heads for off-camera mounting of two flashes + 'brolly boxes'. I'm awaiting the two brolly boxes to come in, and then I should have all my camera gear complete to set-up a small home studio and shoot in controlled conditions AND without depending on the weather (it's autumn here, so lots of rain...). I hope to be able to dramatically improve the picture quality for the next batches! :nerd:

Meanwhile.... any and all further specimens from the land of the rising sun will be very much welcomed; be they sold, traded or donated
So, if anyone has something available, I'd love to hear about it!

Cheers!
Olafo
