I am trying to help a friend ID this item. The markings look Finnish. Is this correct and does anyone have any information on the item? The information I have is below.
It seems to be a WWII era Finnish 155.
Measurements are 155mm diameter and 627mm length, rotating band width 15mm, and appears that it's missing a fuze adapter.
There is "BF" stamped into the round at least three times as well as "IR 17/44".
Here is some additional info found on the web:
The LR should be a machining plant (Lahden Rautateollisuus Oy)
VAL should be a charging (filling?) plant (Valtion Ammuslataamo) as well as the AseV 8 (Asevarikko).
The 32/41-?? relates to the fuze well size.
Filler was most likely amatol originally.
