From my Dad's shed

He's gone now, bless him, at a very advanced age. The more outrageous stuff I cleared out has been properly disposed of but this one still still puzzles me. He was an avid souvenir collector throughout his service career so this might be relatively recent - the condition and the fact that it's uncorroded steel on brass might indicate that. Then again, his father came from the same mould and served in 18th Div in WW1........

I take it to be German and have searched as carefully as I can in the Forums. But nothing so far.

The cap apprears to be 57mm (can't find my calipers) - or 2"
The secondary thread is 42mm - or 1-5/8"
The tertiary thread is 35mm - or 1-3/8"

The interior is well greased but otherwise clean with no indication that it has been loaded.

Over to you gentlemen.
