Fuzes Nos 83, 88 and 94
A few words from work done by Ian Hogg. Hope it is of interest and helps clear up any confusion:
Fuze, Time and Percussion, No 88
Design RL 23570. Combustion, double-banked, tensioned, based on the No 83 fuze. Bottom time ring filled RD 202 and painted red. Burning time 48 seconds. For long range shrapnel in BL 60pr or 6in Mk 19 guns.

Fuze, Time and Percussion, No 94
Design RL 26970. A No 88 type fuze with the rings filled with Chilworth Powder Company composition, to burn for 42 seconds. OC Min 25663 of 20/2/1918 describes it as 'an 83 filled with 82 powder and 3% aluminium powder'. Time rings lacquered blue. Marks 1 and 2 originally had black caps to show the presence of a stirrup spring in the time detonating arrangement.
