Hi all,
I am helping a collector to identify some strange shell cases. Shown is a 1939 made Polte 90x247R108 mm shell case. It is strange in several respects, for example the small C/13 nA primer in a relatively large shell case, the numbers 39 are not very well aligned, and the shown Polte logo I only know from instructor/drill rounds (e.g., 2 cm Flak and 4 cm Bofors). But to be honest, when measured it is a perfect match with a shell case for the 90 mm M1926 Kongsburg harpoon gun used to hunt whales......never knew Polte made this stuff.
