At long last ive dug my German SC 50 KG from the back of a very cold garage, This bomb was found partially exploded on the site of an old airfield
its slightly unusual as its the SC bomb But with a (28)A fuze
This may have been shown before in which case its old age creeping up again!

Hi Paul.
Its an SC50 , i now know what the meaning of cold steel is , my hands almost froze to it whilst carrying down here.

Interesting to note the plug at the end rather than a lifting eye or remains of a Stabo??

cheers

On the 50 Kg if the lifting eye was,nt used they had the screw in place

I wonder why they wasted metals on a screw or plug for these?
Surely a small threaded hole wouldnt have caused disturbance in flight?
I suppose even a bakelite plug would have done?? Just a thought! :)

Hi Paul
Its only purpose was to protect the threads, so any material would have done, probably over engineered

'preciate that Steve,
I could do with a couple for the cases i have. The broken ones require drilling out though! :tinysmile_cry_t4:
