It was a thing that I had quite sure in mind, but from some days ago I have the "touching" proof, which is the best way for know something for sure, it is the year when Germans changed the metal top connectors on the BZ24 to Aluminium connectors. In this year also they stopped the production of the stenciled cans with the instructions "Vor Gebrauch"..., etc, for cans without that stencil. I also have a few BZ24 1944 dated with Zinc connectors, very rare to find, these can be seen here:
