Trying to find a picture line up of German Bomb gaine manufactures for the ELAZ fuzes. Some have dates with company logo some have date and three letter code or logo and letter. Were the B1 incendiary bombs that were fitted with gaines for booby trap have markings on these gaines.
What was the correct finish of these gaines, were they painted or left as a steel finish or blacked?
Can anyone help

Thanks for showing the pictures. I quite cant make out the code on the 1941 dated gaine, looks like a d / z, not sure.

Two more examples. (from Fjordhouse collection)
Last one is made of bakelite.

Here is a 17A by bmv dated 1941 and bakelite gaine, also dated 1941, and manufactured by, I think, ehe. The Zus 40 is dated 1940. Alan1.DSCN0813[1].jpg

I assume that when these incendiaries are dealt with the just remove the gain pot or is it both parts that are missing which the gain pot screws into, the other threaded part, or is this other part always on the bomb.

The B1 Gaines were mostly unmarked , i have examples of one finished in Red and others were unpainted but are a dull finish

Looking at the photos i would say the gains which were painted and unpainted had a light phosphate coating on them to stop rust forming, a general practice in any industry, you can see the process on the inside of the gain pot, a light grey but over time it would eventually rust if exposed to the elements
