If I were to guess which probably means nothing, their should be a large hole at the bottom which would be big enough to have a hand made or factory made wooden dowel rod to go into the base. The fuzz 44 on top is the same the ComBloc one that they used until they started their own production of fuzes which were named the MUZE fuzes. I am also thinking that if I have everthing correctly so far that the mine itself could be a POMZ AP Mine. One other question, are there any kind of small holes around the bottom? Also confusing about this item is the fact that the raised fragmentation part is so is so sharp and with clarity, which that tells me definately it could be a POMZ mine.

1 fine mine

Hi Grenades, I am afraid I cannot answer your question, but just wanted to comment that is one of the coolest pieces of ordnance i've laid my eyes on. Tremendous, I love it....Dano

What you have is a stake mine, except you are missing the stake. A tripwire is connected to the fuze on top, which functions when the tripwire is pulled initiating a detonator inside. There would be a cylindrical explosive charge inside (usually TNT or mixture of) which scatters the body in all directions.

Your mine is more recent than WWII. It could be East German or from a variety of Warsaw Pact/Communist countries, and looks most like a Russian POMZ-2 variation. They all made them in various forms. The fuze is a derivative of an original German design.

Thanks guys for informations.I think its POMZ-2 mine.
I have POMZ-1 so you can see differences.
Someone turn in to the scrow german fuse but I think it should be some variation of MUV fuze.

And they make for a very nasty scene once it goes of too!!! This is because of the proximity of the mine to the soldier(s) walking by. These were a very popular mine Vietnam. This mine is of exceptional devestation. For instance the mine was made out of iron, right? In the Grenade industry not too many countries are out there using iron for destructional purposes. Iam sure that eveyrbody here knows that when iron is used as a casing to contain explosives, the iron does one of two things: 1) it will become mostly dust with large chunks of the iron, BUT NOT MANY will even do this. 2) It will become mostly small dust and some splinters. They are only good to use them in a battle because they make poor soliders die from the cuncussion of the iron grenade. For example you could be coming up on a Japanese bunker on Okinawa, and you have them right were you want them. You toss the grenade in and it blows up. Now you have killed every one of them inside. I will tell you what killed most of them. It was the concussion. Their is member here that stated he would rather have just a bunch of the "Offensive Mk. IIIA1 rather than the MIIA1's". So, in other words, the Soldier(s) will have plenty of dust and splinters.

Sorry for being a little winded on this section. I am just here for trying a little "Instrucional" from past experiences.

i can only say !!

hi i can only say the body looks not as an german typ of i would say more frence but i am not sure !!

best regards David

Just found out this afternoon. I went through my Vietnam Ordnances usage and came across an exact one as yours. It is DEFINATELY a POMZ-2M. Yours has only 5 rows of fragments which makes yours a POMZ-2M. If it were to have 6 rows of fragmentation it would then be a POMZ-2.

Differences between POMZ-2 and POMZ-2 M : POMZ-2 has bigger head.
POMZ-2M has thread in head part for MD-5M detonator, but POMZ-2 doesn't have it. POMZ-2 used with MD-2 detonator.
