help wanted please

Hi everybody

As you know karen and me had a little baby girl called jessica 3 months ago.
And the question we have is karens currently on maternity leave from work but now her wages have gone down to the government statutory maternity pay of 117.18 which is really rubbish, while shes still off work is there any other things we can claim for ?
we are currently claiming the 20 a week child allowance but thats it, somebody has said to us we can claim tax credits ? which we are looking into anybody know anything about them ? but any other things we can claim for would be great as every little helps these days especially as we have been working and paying taxes all these years about time we had our share everybody else seems to be claiming for everything.
We are also not married if that makes a difference to what she can claim cheers

hi this is maggie lee's wife , you can claim for child tax credits and working tax credits. The helpline number is 0845 300 3900, they need both your national lnsurance numbers, and they would want to know your joint income to process your joint claim.
