Help with 76/62 case

Sorry I'm not a gunner ; so what is the side hole for ?

I know nothing about this case or the load, but there were a number of US cases that were slightly similar in appearance. Those cases were for fin stabilized projectiles and the hole - typically larger than the one pictured here, was for loading of propellent after the projectile was seated.

Yes, instead of the Copper Unit Pressure system, they put a piezo element there and the cutting for the wiring

Pressure Sensor was my first thought because of the small slot but I didn't know that piezo elements are used. But it makes much sense, the generated voltage can be translated into the pressure and the small slot is for two wires or one if the gun is the ground potential.
