Hello all,
I have an American 3 inch M2 Tank killer case here that is brass.
The case has recieved no care over time, which is a good thing, but along the way a certain amount of dreck got
onto it. Most important, the headstamps are almost filled in with dirt and oxidation from neglect, but again, this is
not necessarily a bad thing, it's good that the patina is intact, but there is a lot of dirt, especially on the headstamp, that does not doany good, it only obscures the stampings.
Would gently rubbing a very soft powder like baking soda in there remove the dirt but retain the patina?
Is there anything else somebody who has done restoration would recommend? I do not want to go the brasso route,
but i am sure the dirt could be removed yet leave the 70 year patina unharmed.
Thanks so much,
Walt
