Japanese 70mm type a case (unscrews)

This arrived on my doorstep today.

It is a Japanese 70mm Type A Case and was made so that the base could unscrew to vary the charge. This was later replaced by the type "B" (OTSU) which was a one piece case that sliped off the projectile to change the propellent charge.

The case was made at the Osaka Arsenal in December 1935 and the primer also Osaka Arsenal in April 1939.

Thats unusual thanks for showing and explaining it,if i had found one i would have thought it was trenchart.
was this common practice with japanese carts or just this type ?

Hi Spotter,

Only the 70mm were made with a screw off base. I don't know what year they changed over to just a full case that sliped on/off the projectile to adjust the charge.

These Type A cases are quite uncommon compared to the Type B cases.
