Could anyone confirm that the base plate of this Japanese Naval 76.2mm Mk 3 H.E. Projectile is right hand thread as it certainly looks as if someone has tried to turn it anti-clockwise or is it instead left hand? The information that I have doesn't give the thread directions.

I always like everything disassembled as much as possible before shipping. My mate in the US ended up not being able to undo it so it has ended up on it's merry way enroute to me with plug still in.
