SA = Finnish Army - is this something of theirs-
not mine I was asked if I knew what it was for.
cylinder rotates to cover glass when not in use.

I don't think so- but I haven't seen it

The owner seems to think it has a military application ?

I think it's kind of worthless!
 
Just looking through ebay and there was something similar looking but US army. It was listed as a combat light sitck shield, for those snap and shine light sticks. It looks to me like an older version of one of them. See what you think, I'll post a picture of the one I saw

It looks like a spirit level. It has the lines for the bubble to center on.

This item in the picture is a glow stick holder
 
I don't think the item at the start of the thread is a glow stick holder.

It appears to have a glass tube in it and looks like it is made of brass.

All the glow stick holders I have seen have been plastic and quite cheaply made.

The glass tube has marking lines on it.
 
glevum The item shown later is the glow stick holder not the first item. We have plenty of these at work
