Hello Ordman,

Here are a few photographs of my inert T18E2 57MM HE with a T83 PD fuze. The inscription on the rotating band reads: F.A.S. 2-9-45-H.E. 57MM T18E2 followed by an ordnance stamp. The T83 PD fuze is dated 7-44. Since the 57MM HE isn't mentioned in the 29 June 1944 TM9-1901 ARTILLERY AMMUNITION manual, the prototype versions of the T18 were still being tested at this stage of the war.

Best regards,

Randall

Nice pics From what i can gather the T18e1 was the prototype with a smooth rotating band
The the T18e2 was the grooved rotating band and later became the M303

Ok, Where does one acquire a fuze for the T18E2? I think it was the M85 or M86 (in addition to the T83)? Cheers, Bruce.

The 57 MM HE round information you gave was quite informative. The only thing is I still have questions. First I have an inert 57MM HE round marked FAS 2-34-45 HE 57MM M303. I am a little confused on the 34. Second, what fuze was used on the M303 round. Also what is the proper case for the M303 round?

The M303 HE projo would use the M86 Fuze and M23A2 brass case or M23A2B1 steel case.

You seem to have a lot of info relating to all of the service projectiles and some test projectiles. What type of document did you copy this data from?
