militaria: what do you collect aside from inert ordnance?

just wondered... i guess for many of us our inert items are an offshot from more general militaria collecting??

i myself have a pretty substantial militaria collection (i have collected over 20 years now), mostly WW2-modern, all nations but particularly British, East and West German and Soviet. i guess my 'specialism' is webbing and accessories. i am however downsizing at the moment and listing much of it for sale as i sort it out...

Always only been ordnance for me in the millitaria side of things, have picked up old bottles and stoneware from the mudflats and old pipes more out of interest than any real collecting as far as those items concerned. Just like hoarding old things :)
Best regards Weasel.

I also do chemical equipment, especially decon, first aid, and detection. I also have several (probably close to 50 or so) gas masks from different countries. Most of my collection is U.S. because getting chemical equipment is difficult. But I have some Russian, Serbian, and British detectors and stuff.

Cheers,
Don,

I'm a information collector. I try to put everything in digital format, aviation, environmental, environmental health (medcial, public health, safety, etc), explosive safety/information (making, loading, handling, etc) EOD relted pubs, Explosive Ord Recon/clearnance, Ordnance (all contries and type), munitions management, Special operations (all areas), SpecOps demo, explosive entry, security, intelligence, terrorism and WMDs (with emphasis on bio and deleivery systems - already have a 4 Volume set on Bio Weapons and delivery Systems published).

Right now I am at 450 gig and growing. Plus about 3 book shelvs that I have not scanned. Only problem I have is my filing system, though I ahve specific folders with sub folders with more sub folders, I still have trouble finding specific pubs sometimes. But I am working on that. And also adding new folders as I gain new or more information.

Joe - drop me a PM if there is any of this stuff you are looking for - I also have a lot of masks/NBC equipment but am looking to sell quite a bit of it now :)

Apart from firearms, other weapons and inert ordnance I also collect Finnish Army unit insignia as well as old glass items ( especially military related ) from certain local factories.

Apart from the aerial ordnance interest i also collect gun cameras, only a small collection so far but have a US one from a P-51 , a British one from a HP Hampden and one from a DH Vampire.
I could get hold of a Sony handycam and say its a gun camera, as the RNZAF modded some for recording the HUD displays in the post-kahu Skyhawks!

Apart from collecting mine items and ordnance that takes my fancy, i also collect WW2 radios and mine detectors etc. Any one have any AN/TRC-7 accessories and BA-70 batteries, i am also after a CRC-7 survival radio and the No; 3 Polish mine detector set. Thought i might as well add my ten pence worth, you never know what may turn up.

I collect inert ordnance from all countries and of all types from around 1890 to the late 1990's. I have a particular focus on U.S., British, and Japanese items. In addition to this I also collect authentic original U.S. Military shoulder sleeve and pocket insignia (patches) from the early 30's through 1975 and currently have around 6,000 examples. I also collect military helmets, headgear, gas masks, and Japanese swords & textiles (senninbari, nobori, and military flags). I have a number of late 60's American "Muscle Cars" which I began collecting before the prices went crazy. I have a 49 key Limonaire Freres French fairground organ, 2 Seeburg nickelodeons, and a number of exposed horn cylinder phonographs. Obviously I lack a specific focus in my collecting but I look for high quality examples and carefully preserve them in their original (or as found) condition. The way I see it, I'm just the current custodian of these artifacts and I have a duty to prevent alteration or deterioration for as long as they are in my care. I plan to post pictures of my ordnance collection as soon as possible but having just purchased new display cases, everything is in total disarray right now!

I collect WW2 flying jackets, mainly the Luftwaffe winter type.

I have several ones in different colours.

Also, a RAF Irvin and a Luftwaffe fighter pilots jacket.

All genuine :hello:
