Military issue shotgun ball round

I recently cut this 12 bore shotgun ball round.
Govt arrow marked body
Headstamp Eley Kynoch 12 ICI 12
can someone please tell me the correct designation of this and its use
thanks for looking spotter

These were issed to the Home Guard during WW2 for use at short ranges in privately owned shotguns. They can also be found loaded with SG shot. These are marked "SG" on the side. Some of these rounds are also coloured red.
