Mills No5 internal lettering?

This Mills seems to be a No5 as marked, and was found in Belgium.
As I was cleaning/disassembeling it, I've found 2 letter markings at the inside of the grenade: 'G' and a 'D'.
They are casted in relief, not engraved.

I tried my best to illuminate the inside and take a picture of it.

Is this common? i never heard from internal markings on a mills.

Hi buddy,

never seen one so marked but as they made 65 million Mills Grens during WW1 ime not suprised at what just keeps turning up. Most casting or foundry marks were on the outside so i suppose some had to be on the inside as well.
Good spot.

That's a first for me, thought to be honest I've probably not checked every No 5 body I've had that closely. I will from now on.
