Does anybody have any info on this? Maybe a Norinco or Bazalt catalogue? I am trying to put together a history of Chinese and Russian defense production in the last years. And my job on this is keeping me really busy so I thouht some dear members could help me a little.

There is an enormous ammount of documentation about modern Chinese Bombs around the web, mainly among the Chinese defense industry sites (yes, true, you need to have a minimal understanding of Chinese), but also EOD reports from Iraq and some special reports in English of "potentially threatened countries" such as Australia - for instance this one dealing with the Chinese guided bombs
Technical Report APA-TR-2009-0808 (PLA Guided bombs): http://www.ausairpower.net/APA-PLA-GBU.html
and this one dealing with Chinese Cruise missiles
Technical Report APA-TR-2009-0803: http://www.ausairpower.net/APA-PLA-Cruise-Missiles.html

And a few pictures from the Chinese Air Force Museum in Beijing

For the Norinco aerial bombs catalogue enter their site through this link
http://www.norinco.com/c1024/chinese/productsandservices/defense_5.html
(their English homepage has a bug and only through their Chinese homepage you can reach the sub menus of their site)
The Norinco originally produced bombs following the same design and, from their general appearance, based on the Russian early free-fall, high-drag bombs previously exported to China. At least four types were initially produced: the 250 kg Type 2, 500 kg Type 2, 1,500 kg Type 2 and the 3,000 kg Type 2.

Great! Has anyone noticed how ugly Chinese bombs are in comparison to US slicks?

Bazalt seems very tight lipped abiut her produtcs

Bazalt is a Russian armament company - probably one of the oldest, and without doubt the most active of all Russian bombs producers, above all on the export market - and have a wide range of products - I think that they have a catalogue on their web site.
These are photos from their 95 anniversary (they area active since 1916)

You can get much details on thiir bombs on the following forum:
http://zlata.rufor.org/forumdisplay.php?f=271

Russians unguided bombs follow formally the range 50/100/250/500/1000/1500/2000/3000/5000/9000 kg
Some are available in both high and low dag version, other only have a single version.
Due the use of same shape of bodies for frag, HE-frag and HE bombs, those bombs having with less exlosive content and heavier cases will be globally heavier, making for some odd weights - hence 270kg OFAB-250-270 - first number is nominal weight, 2nd number is real weight (if it is more then +/-5% of nominal one).

You can find drawings, cutaways and dimensions of bombs serially equipping the Soviet/ Russian air force at the following web address:
http://www.enci.ru/ФАБ
and of course the most interesting and detailed materail can be found at the russian arms forum
http://www.russianarms.ru/forum/index.php/board,792.0.html were all (almost) Russian/ Soviet bombs are reviewed in full details one after the other

Most Chinese bombs are copies/ improved copies of Soviet/ Russian models - the Chinese concept being not to invest on creativity but in copying and improving models that have proved themselves and mass producing them - from computers to bombs. They are very active on the export market, above all in African and Arab countries and of course among traditional customers such as Pakistan. To which extent such weapons serially equip the PLAAF itself is an open question.....

I succeeded to put a hand upon Balzalt English catalogue for 2008 - I uploaded it in the dowloads/bombs section - it is presently "in the moderation queue" - so just wait a little till it will be "approved" for access by the forum moderators :tinysmile_twink_t2:
