MORE 17A Progress

We are now two stages closer to getting my 17A finished.

I now have two 17A lower cases which are very accurate repros
and the clocks are hopefully being rebuilt with donar parts from the
Waff himself.

Hopefully this week should hear some ticking.

My Mate Turned these as he is a better turner than me and he wouldnt let me use his laythe. (he is a right old fuss pot like that )

So it was his time in exchange for mine which suits me.

Whoever did them did a cracking job,im half tempted to buy the spare for my case-less one!:tinysmile_twink_t:
Ive been looking around my garage for spare `O` rings for these fuzes as im sure ive used similar sized ones with my job?

Whats the next stage with this 17A matey?

cheers

Hi Phil
They look very good , did he turn them from Tube or solid?

Well my old mate reckons he could turn me an inner clock case and i am half tempted, there is not much else left pending the clocks and making some keys which Steve kindly gave me the dimensions.

Thanks Steve

They were turned from 60mm solid round, which meant he could turn and thread the inside whilst leaving some meat on the outside until it was time to turn the final dimension.

Hi Phil
That was some feat of engineering , it looks very good , you could go into restoration of fuzes
Steve

Thanks Steve

I must admit that these cases are absolute exact for dimensions
and internal tolerances to the point where the clock case slides in slowley
with an almost vacume type fit.

I might attempt the internal case which i have been told by my friend
is a bit involved but still straight forward.

Best phil

good luck hil its going to be nice to see a fully restored (17)
