The pictures have actually posted slightly out of sequence, but don't worry about that.

Here goes anyway.
1. "WCC 1940 .303" - .303 British made on contract for Britain by Western Cartridge Co., USA. These approximate the British Ball Mark VII and were purchased by us, they are not Lend Lease.

2. "P C 43" - .30 M1 carbine made by Peters Cartridge Company, USA in 1943.

3. "RWS 7x64" - German sporting round made by Rheinisch-Westflische Sprengstoff A.-G., Nrnberg-U. Germany.

4. "USC Co 18" - .30 calibre (.30-06) made by the United States Cartridge Company in 1918.

5. "L C 43" - ..30 calibre blank M1903 made by Lake City Ordnance Plant (USA) in 1943. The large cannelure at the neck indicates it was a blank.

6. Unknown without dimensions. If images are to scale then it looks like an 11mm round, but which one is uncertain.

7. "No ? GIBBS" - One of the sporting rounds made for rifles made by Gibbs. The cartridge was probably made by Eley Brothers. I cannot read the number though.

hi Tony
I tried to delete this post as it was out of sink, No6 the length of the case is 60mm the internal dia is just about 10mm and the base is 16mm this round came from France from the La Rochelle area in a tidal estuary mud flats. No7 the gibbs looks like N_o3 with the o over the _ (cant type that) yet again many thanks......paul.

No.6 is an 11mm Mauser, the German service cartridge from 1874 until the adoption of the 7.92x57mm M88 in 1888. it was still used by second line troops in WWI.

I thought at first it might be an 11mm Gras as that was the French service round, but the dimensions indicate a Mauser.

I will try to dig out some data on the No.3 Gibbs.
