Hi. Thanks for taking the time to look.
I have what I think is a mortar grenade, but Im not sure and would like to know more about it. Can you help? I would be grateful for any information.

17" high (without fuse cap) 80mm diameter (about 3")
There is a collar at the top of the round that unscrews (into which the fuse screws) which is marked:
Lot J1/11
GD201482GWM2/91

The body of the round is marked: GD201488 PAT 89. The figures 547 are stamped under PAT.

Tail is stamped GD201489 RG11/88/P-T

weight 3kg in its inert state.

Mortar

It is a U.K Mortar projectile dating back before the first Gulf War. The U.S. evaluated these and adopted them at that time. The U.S. fired the U.K. manufactured ones during the first gulf War, and has since started making their own copy, but as a single piece, as they have eliminated the threaded joint on the ogive. There is a WP projectile of the same shape.

Unknown mortar

I'm not completely sure of the dimensions but it seems to be a
U.K. PROJECTILE, 81-MM, HE, MORTAR, L36A2S
