Hello, can anyone identify this 25mm projectile, 90mm long, very pointy with what seems to be a tracer cavity, the yellow band in what looks like a broad blue band is original, i have looked at Italian,Swedish and Swiss projectiles on here and in my books, no luck, Thanks

Not the standard 25mm AA. The Japanese round had a different profile and the rotating band was much larger. The AP has a more rounded point as I recall (shorter ogive).

Hi Dave, The problem is that the crimping cannular on my projectile is lower than the fiat Revelli ones which makes me believe its not the 25.4 Revelli , it maybe a later model ?? I also do not think the proj colour relates to Italian, the mystery continues
Thanks also to the other guys that commented, its not Japanese for sure

Looking at the internal grooves for the tracer part this looks very much like a QF ap 1" tracer.

Mick

I sent you a PM-if you could send back then that may help. With regards the 25.4mm yes I was - I have a drawing which shows the internal tracer grooves which is identical to your proj, i appreciate the 25.4 is 84mm long - so 6mm shorter than yours and a different drive band. with regards the grooves I thought this may identify the manufacturer of the proj. only other thoughts if it is not this early then looking at it paint wise and drive band etc then I would say that it is post WW2 - do you have any details of the 25mm Aden projs (straden) etc as it could be one of these.
cheers womble

Hi Mike, my email is tigerkingmm@yahoo.com I did reply to your PM, I might have done something wrong though (knowing me), re 25mm Aden, I will have details somewhere (I think), will have a look later, thanks for the pointer, i think it might be post ww2

Is it 25mm or could it be 24mm ----if 24mm then the proj could be from a 24x138 anti tank/sub cal.

cheers
