Nose Cone ?

Investment

Well-Known Member
Hello,

Does anyone know what this nose cone might have been attached to

It's made of alloy and is 7.5cm across the base and 7cm high.

It has 6 small nails inserted around the base.

I thought it might be a type of training piece, but I really don?t have any idea what it is.

The piece was found on a wartime site.

Cheers,

...Where did you find the item?

Hi Jayteepee,
Nice picture of the SAP 60 pounder :)
The one I put up for identification is more in the size range of a 11.5 pound practice bomb nose cone. It was found on a wartime site amongst burnt out 20mm rounds.

Used for a lot of reasons;
To determine the drift of the plane dropping it
To mark the initial point of contact with a submarine.
And so on.

Hello Blu97,
Many thanks for identifying this item, as it had me stumped.
Cheers,
