I got this Panferwurfmine or PWM this morning from a friend.
i would like to restaure it, first removing all rust (electrolysis) and the reconstruction of all missing parts.
The metal parts in the front Polyester
Wood handel. what kind of wood was this.
The folding fins does anybody have detailed drawings about the spring loaded mechanism, what tissue was used?
Color??

Any information would be appreciated

Thanks

I want to clean this with electrolyse, could it be dangerous for the bakelite??

I think for the wooden part you may use Beechwood, it was typically used in German grenade sticks, boxes etc.

Here are some Pictures of the Panzerwurfmine i hope there are helpfulll for you !!

cool

just up my street!!
if it was mine I would use Rust remover (not the stuff that makes rust go black because that doesnt remove it)
Wouldnt use wire brush or wool as this will destroy any lettering present.
I'd remove the bakelight before doing anything.
The badly damaged parts can be repaired with 'chemical metal' filler.

and I'd go with the beech wood.Ive used a rolling pin before as it very hard can easily be turned and stained with diluted enamel paints to match the original colour.
keep us informed on your progress mate

Pwm

As far I could find out, ther were 2 different kind of PWM, the Lang and the Kurz, what is the difference between them, is it only the handel, the stbilization fins and the fuze, but the metallic part is the same.

Can I make from this PWM an L or a K or are there some more specific differences????

Thanks

Luc
